Keene Man Wins 2005 State 8 Ball Championship
Two Locals Place in Top Six
August 21, 2005: D.J. Hopkins of Keene bested 55 other players in double elimination competition to win the NH State 8 Ball championship and the $1,000 top prize. This was a New England Billiard League sanctioned tournament, co-sponsored by Keene Mitsubishi and McCue's Billiards and Sports Bar, raising $1,250 for the Keene Community Kitchen.
Players from five states competed through the day and evening Sunday at McCue's in Keene.
Taking the first 6 prizes were: Hopkins, 1st; Fred Agnir of Templeton, Mass., 2nd; Rick Dundon of Gloucester, Mass, 3rd; Mark Kulungian of East Windsor, Conn., 4th; tieing for fifth were Al Holmes of Gill, Mass. and Fran Hennessey of Medford, Mass.; and tieing for sixth were Don Blake of Keene and Fidel Carbanal of Boston., Mass.
